Terms of Service
These terms cover the CostSentry app for Shopify, the website costsentry.app and the free Supplier Price Margin Checker. By installing the app or using the tools you agree to them.
1. What the service does
CostSentry reads your Shopify catalog, accepts supplier price lists you upload, detects changes in supplier cost, calculates the effect on your margins, and alerts you. When you ask it to, it writes an updated cost per item back to your Shopify products. It never changes your retail prices.
2. Your account and your data
- You need an active Shopify store and the permission to install apps on it.
- You keep ownership of everything you upload and of your store data. We only process it to run the service — see the Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for having the right to upload the supplier price lists you use.
3. Accuracy, and what remains your decision
CostSentry computes margins and suggested prices from the data you give it. Those numbers are only as good as their inputs: a wrong column mapping, a price quoted per case rather than per unit, or a stale catalog will produce wrong results. We do our best to surface such problems, but pricing decisions are yours. The service is a calculation and alerting tool, not financial, accounting or legal advice.
4. Writing costs back to Shopify
Cost write-back happens either when you press the button for a specific item, or automatically if you switch auto-apply on in Settings. In both cases you are instructing us to change your Shopify data, and you accept responsibility for that change. 5. Availability
We aim to keep the service running continuously, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. Scheduled syncing, alerts and delivery may be delayed by Shopify API limits, provider outages or maintenance. The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law.
6. Acceptable use
- Don't use the service to break the law, or to breach an agreement you have with a supplier.
- Don't attempt to disrupt the service, bypass its limits, or access other merchants' data.
- Don't resell access to the service without our written agreement.
7. Plans, billing and trials
Paid plans are billed through Shopify's billing system according to the plan you choose in the app, including any trial period shown at the time. Prices may change with 30 days' notice; changes never apply retroactively to a period you already paid for. Because Shopify handles billing, cancellations and refunds follow Shopify's process and their App Store terms.
8. Cancellation
Uninstall the app at any time from your Shopify admin — that ends billing for future periods. We stop syncing immediately, and your data is erased when Shopify sends the shop-redact request 48 hours later, or sooner on request.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for lost profits, lost margin, or indirect or consequential damages.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect.
